I am a teacher, first and foremost. From an early age, I enjoyed helping others and exploring different ways of looking at things, both simple and complex. Chiropractic as a career became my passion after meeting some enthusiastic students from Logan College of Chiropractic in Missouri, but my grand plan to be a clinician was put on hold after I became interested in radiology as a first year student.
After graduating from Logan in 1981, a three year, radiology residency opportunity presented itself at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, now Southern California University of Health Sciences. I studied under Dr. Joseph Howe, one of the great chiropractic teachers/mentors of our time. After that I joined Northwestern in 1985 as a newly credentialed chiropractic radiologist. I’ve been here ever since.
Responding to local chiropractors' request for quick, professional radiology consultation, I founded the Radiological Consultation Service (RCS) at Northwestern in 1986. The RCS has served doctors throughout the U.S. ever since.
My professional interests include all facets of musculoskeletal radiology, chest radiology, technological enhancements to teaching and learning, and student motivation. I serve as chair of the Department of Chiropractic Studies and chair of the Master of Health Science in Diagnostic Imaging program.
