Enhance Your Professional Development Now!
Pair Up with a Northwestern Alumni Mentor!

Making a successful transition from a student to a working professional doesn't need to start at graduation. The process can begin much earlier by pairing with an alumni mentor while you are a student at Northwestern. An alumni mentor can point you in the right direction by providing you with the guidance, support, knowledge and insight you need to fulfill your career goals. And you'll have a jump-start on creating your own professional networks.

What can you learn from your Northwestern Alumni Mentor?

  • Advice on how to start a practice, market a practice and build a solid patient base;
  • Find out about career options and where to seek out practice opportunities;
  • Obtain practical information about working and living in a specific geographic location;
  • Help with deciding between solo and group practice options;
  • How to begin networking with practitioners and employers in your chosen profession;
  • Share experiences of working in the "real world";
  • Job shadow your mentor for a day so you can see a practice in action;
  • Learn more about day-to-day business practices, such as insurance and billing;
  • Discuss applications of new techniques, the latest research findings, and trends in patient care and technology;
  • Assistance with selecting clinical internship opportunities;
  • How to clarify professional goals;
  • Guidance and support throughout the job-seeking process, such as help with resume preparation and preparing for job interviews;
  • Receive encouragement and support while you're still in school, such as finding out which courses were most helpful or how to get the most out of your clinical experience; and
  • Just to have a working professional and friend to answer your questions!
