The Chiropractic Clinical Experience
Northwestern Health Sciences University prides itself on providing one of the finest clinical experiences available. The complete array of clinic opportunities for Northwestern interns is unmatched in chiropractic education. A critical element in this process at Northwestern is the Department of Clinical Education. The department supports and facilitates the arduous transition from student to intern to doctor of chiropractic. Students may participate in a wide array of clinical education experiences starting in term six and extending through their 10th term.
The department initially assesses students’
clinical skills, and then continues to work with interns by placing
them either in the University’s outpatient clinics or in the
Community Based Internship Program (CBI). CBI, a Northwestern innovation,
allows interns to meet their quantitative requirements while working
with private practice doctors of chiropractic. The department ensures
the educational content while lending support to both the doctors
and the interns. An additional benefit for Northwestern interns
is the Clinical Rotations Program that allows students to observe
and interact with health care professionals in neurology, orthopedic
and spinal surgery, dentistry and radiology. Northwestern’s
clinic opportunities demonstrate the University’s commitment
to clinical excellence and preparedness for professional success.
