Clinical Internship 1
The DeRusha Clinical Education Center, located on the University
campus, provides initial clinical laboratory experience to
trimester 6 interns. This experience gives students clinic
practice prior to providing care to public patients.
Clinical Internship 2
During trimester 7, interns provide care to patients under
the supervision of faculty clinicians. Doctors of chiropractic
mentor students in the University Health Service, one of Northwestern's
Natural Care Centers, or the Community Based Internship program.
Clinic Preparatory Lab Class
Clinic Preparatory Lab is a five-session class that guides
students through the transition from University Health Service
to placement in either the Community Based Internship Program
or the campus clinic system. Students prepare to enter fee-for-service
clinic settings by first providing care to Northwestern students
and their families in the University Health Service located
in the De Rusha Clinical Education Center. Students care for
patients from the campus community under the supervision of
faculty clinicians.
Clinic Preparatory Lab does exactly what its name implies; it prepares
students to enter the campus clinic and CBI programs. Students are informed
of clinic placement options and environments, assigned to clinics, and informed
of clinical requirements through the Intern's
Clinic Handbook. Students
sign up for Clinical Rotations and
receive support in their transition from full-time student to clinical intern.
