Clinical
Internship 3 & 4
During trimesters 8 and 9, students have the opportunity of completing
graduation requirements while serving as interns in a variety
of settings. Some interns provide service to the public in
one of Northwestern’s teaching clinics. Others complete
their internships in the offices of private practice doctors
of chiropractic located around the metropolitan Twin Cities
area. Students have the ability to transfer from a Northwestern
Campus clinic in trimester 8 to a Community Based Internship
(CBI) clinic in trimester 9 (or vice versa.)
Northwestern’s four public teaching clinics provide
a rich experience for the intern in caring for patients
who are suffering
from a great variety of health problems. The number and diversity
of patient populations of the public clinics are a unique
strength
of the University. Also, the student/faculty ratio is small
enough to allow for close faculty guidance in developing
clinical
skills.

T8 Clinic Rotations
The promotion of integrated and collaborative natural and
conventional medical care is a unique objective of Northwestern.
As a complement to their primary clinical experience, students
observe the clinical practices of chiropractors and other
health care professionals such as neurologists, orthopedic
and spinal surgeons, dentists, and radiologists. Through participation
in this program, students come to better understand the rationale
for different approaches to care, are exposed to a wider range
of patient conditions, understand the means for patient management
through consultations and referrals, and have the opportunity
to network with specialists. Click
