Dr. Linda Hanson says Northwestern’s unique opportunities brought her to the university for her chiropractic degree. “Their world-renowned research department, post-graduate programs and student travel opportunities swayed my decision to attend Northwestern.”
Dr. Hanson says she enjoyed the opportunity to receive mentorship and gain practical experience. “There are electives students can choose that span a broad range of specialties, from chiropractic techniques and meditation to strategic planning for clinical practice.”
The ability to cultivate leadership skills was also important to her. “The Student Senate, Student American Chiropractic Association, and the Pillsbury House Integrated Clinic are student-led initiatives that help to hone leadership skills while in school. I was given many opportunities to improve my public speaking and management skills, which continues to benefit me.”
A Canadian student, Dr. Hanson says she had tremendous support from Northwestern including help with immigration and visa issues, financial aid, scholarship opportunities, counseling and tutoring. “There are a number of faculty on campus from outside the United States who can help students adjust. Northwestern is like a home away from home.”
As a 2009 graduate, Dr. Hanson feels confident in her education, and now works at the Wolfe-Harris Center for Clinical Studies at Northwestern. “Northwestern embraces all students and provides a high-quality education that gives future doctors the tools necessary to provide excellent care to patients.”
