Northwestern's ‘Save Our Schools' Campaign Collects Nearly 3,000 Supplies for Washburn Elementary School

Northwestern Health Sciences University’s annual Save Our Schools campaign collected nearly 3,000 school supplies for students at Washburn Elementary School in Bloomington, Minn., including 1,400 pencils, 336 tablets, 212 boxes of crayons, and 108 folders. In addition, the University raised nearly $260 for the school.

This was the fourth year Northwestern conducted the campaign, although it was the first year the campaign benefited Washburn Elementary. Previously the campaign collected supplies for Phalen Lake Elementary School in St. Paul, Minn. This year’s campaign collected three times the number of supplies than any previous year’s.

The campaign was organized by Northwestern’s Community Relations Advisory Council, the Student American Chiropractic Association, and the University’s Student Senate Volunteer Committee. Since the University began conducting the campaign in 2003, more than $4,100 plus about 6,200 school supplies and pieces of winter gear have been donated by members of the Northwestern community.

This campaign will begin in July 2008!
