a way to communicate directly with all campus constiuencies
on the progress of the University Assessment Program
- Mary Berg was named a member of the UAC
- Dr. Hulbert agreed to provide support for creating staistical
reports for assessment-related data, specifically support
with learning outcomes
- The UAC decided that the 2004 Program Annual Assessment
reports be completed by March 15th of each academic year
to coincide with the planning and budget cycle
- The University Annual progress report was distributed
to the campus community

- Faculty repsentatives from each program were added added
to the UAC so that faculty could be more involved with the
assessment process. (New members: Dr. Kren McManus, Dr.
Renee DeVries, and Dr. Don Eggebrecht. The student representative,
Tony Wangerin, will remain on the committee.)
- The Annual Program Progress Reports were distributed to
the Curriculum Committee coordinators
- The Assessment website was launched

- New committee members met with the UAC for the first time
and brainstormed new ideas and methods of introducing assessment
to faculty at the classroom level

2005 |
| January |
- Faculty committee members began implementing assessment
tools in their classes in order to pilot their use and report
to other faculty members based on their own experiences
- The UAC decided to use the University Assessment website
to make information from the University Assessment plan
and UAC meeting minutes available

- Focus groups were set up with students and administration
to begin the assessment process for the University Assessment
program

| April |
- Five faculty members attended the NCA/HLC Annual Meeting
(April 10-12). (Attendees: Dr. Pat Casello, Dr. Renee DeVries,
Dr. Anita Manne, Dr. Linda Bowers, Dr. Ryne DeVries, Dr.
Charles Sawyer, and Dr. Noni Threinen)

- Faculty members of the UAC presented assessment techniques
to other faculty at a Brown Bag Session
- Dr. Pat Casello was added as a new member of the UAC

- "Bring a Friend" campaign was discussed as a
way to bring additional faculty members to UAC meetings
to get more faculty members engaged in the assessment process

- Several University faculty and administrators attended
the IUPUI Assessment Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.
(Attendees: Dr. Bill Elkington, Dr. Jason Bartlett, Dr.
Michael Wiles, Phaedra Johnson, Dr. Noni Threinen)

- The Deans and Provost were invited to the UAC Assessment
meeting to review the UAC recommendation for improved program
assessment

2006 |
| March |
- Susan Hatfield, PhD, visited Northwestern Health Sciences
University as a program assessment consultant. She met with
the UAC, the Program Deans, Dr. Sawyer and Dr. Threinen.
She prepared an evaluation report on the assessment program
based on her observations and interviews

- Program Deans were added as ad hoc members to the UAC
for the development of criteria for the University Learnig
Outcomes
|
| June |
- UAC members completed their evaluations fo the three Program
Annual Assessment Reports based on common criteria
|
| July |
- University Learning Outcome #7 (Critical Thinking) criteria
were completed
- Small task groups were formed to establish drafts of criteria
for the remaining University Learning Outcomes
|
| August |
- Generic criteria were established for University Learning
Outcomes #3 (Ethics and Moral Reasoning), #4 (Individuals,
Communities and Cultures), and #5 (Service to Community)
