Podcasting
Thursday, October 26, 2006, noon - 1 pm
Apple Computers, Inc. (Gary Gruba, Mike McGraw, Ron Knutson)

Representatives from Apple Computer Education and Apple Retail talked about adapting podcasting technology to your classroom with regard to its current usage, applications and benefits. Although you don't need to own an iPod in order to take advantage of Podcasting, many university students do use iPods, thus making them a receptive audience to course use of this technology.

The podcast of the October Podcasting Brown Bag presentation has been posted on the web for access by our faculty!

The best way to get the podcast is to subscribe to Gary Gruba's channel using iTunes. (Free download for Mac or PC at http://www.apple.com/itunes/ ) After installing the iTunes application, go to the advanced menu and select subscribe to a podcast. A new window will appear. Enter the following podcasting location information in the window:

http://homepage.mac.com/ggruba/podcast/profcast_Beta_20061017_082942-0500.rss

iTunes will automatically download the recording.

The Mall of America Apple store has a number of free workshops on Apple applications and technologies. Some of the workshops like the Podcasting workshop, though typically run weekly, may fluctuate from one particular day of the week to another. To help in checking on future listings and times, below is a link to the store website. These workshops are free and require no reservations, etc. If you call ahead of time, group classes can also be arranged. Let them know that you are a NWHSU faculty member and that you attended a podcasting workshop with Ron Knutson.
