Mini-Workshop: Light breakfast and discussion regarding Team
Learning. Does Team Learning have a place on a natural health care
campus? What could this mean for the professor, the student, and the
curriculum?
Feb. 19, 3:30 pm-5 pm
Question and Answer Session: This is a free-flowing session
in which ANY topic is fair game – from curriculum development
to competency assessment. The best answer to your question might be “I
don’t know”, but here is a chance to bounce some questions
around with Doug and the other faculty present. This session will be
based on faculty needs, so feel free to drop a note to Dr. Lawson with
any issues you would like to see discussed (dmlawson@ucalgary.ca).
Feb. 20, noon-5 pm
An interactive Faculty Development Workshop,
including:
- Student evaluation through the use of extended-matching
questions (EMQs). Why have the Canadian Chiropractic Examining
Board, the Medical
Council of Canada, and the National Board of Medical Examinations
moved to extended-matching items? The advantages and disadvantages
of EMQs
will be presented in a workshop format where participants will
be able to practice the development of EMQs in their area of expertise.
- Managing
classroom examinations: from question development to question banking.
Dr. Lawson will be providing each participant a question
database management system based on Microsoft Excel. Participants will have
the opportunity to create questions, bank them, create an examination,
score an examination, and update the databank with the relevant
question statistics.
- Lunch will be served from noon to 12:45. Join us for a
delicious way to start our session.
