COHORT DEFAULT RATE (CDR)
A cohort default rate (CDR) is the percentage of a school's
student borrowers who enter repayment on Stafford Loans during
a particular fiscal year and who default before the end of
he next fiscal year.
The Department of Education (DOE) provides official cohort
default rates to schools and also makes them available to
the public. The DOE releases official cohort default rates
for all schools that the Department's records indicate:
- Are eligible to participate in any of the Title IV Programs
- Have borrowers that entered repayment of FFELs or Direct
Loans during the current or prior cohort years.
Northwestern Health Sciences University has three programs
that are federally eligible to receive financial aid assistance:
Northwestern College of Chiropractic, Minnesota College of
Acupunture and Oriental Medicine and the School of Massage
Therapy.

Official cohort default rates are important because they
may affect a school's eligibility to participate in the Title
IV programs administered by the DOE.
