Kenneth B. Heithoff, MD

Our 2012 Brilliant Star Award honoree is Kenneth B. Heithoff, MD, founder and past chairman of the Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI), for his commitment, support and dedication to Northwestern Health Sciences University. Dr. Heithoff has served on the Board of Trustees at Northwestern since 2007.

Dr. Heithoff’s relationship with Northwestern began in the mid 1980’s when he invited our radiology residents to participate in case studies at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. He was the first medical radiologist in Minnesota to recognize and understand the diagnostic needs of the chiropractic profession. He and CDI opened their doors to doctors of chiropractic for referral of their patients to advanced imagery.

In 2006, Northwestern and CDI created a partnership to provide weight bearing MRI services to both the chiropractic and medical professions, under the name of “Upright MRI, a Service of Northwestern College of Chiropractic and CDI”.

Dr. Heithoff has a long history of supporting the chiropractic profession and Northwestern, and most recently made a substantial gift toward the establishment of the CDI Radiology Lab - providing a state-of-the-art digital radiology educational experience for our students.
