This course surveys the assessment tools that will enable the clinician to advise patients on available nutritional options to increase health. Students will utilize an evidenced-based approach to review the methodology, application, implications, strengths and limitations of the assessment tools presented. Drug induced nutrient depletion will be discussed as part of the assessment process. Based on laboratory assessments, students will explore how to develop an individualized therapy program for a client. Students will evaluate case studies of specific nutrient deficient states as well as case studies of sports nutrition issues.
