ORTH6210:OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH I

Course will explore the specialty topic of occupational health and applied ergonomics and the role of the chiropractic orthopedist in serving as a consultant to the business and corporate community regarding workers' health, wellness and safety. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the mechanisms of insult and failure of the neuromusculoskeletal and other body systems. Knowledge of government regulations and agencies responsible for assuring a safe and healthy workplace is presented. Practical component consists of the application of intervention strategies involved in the diagnosis, and clinical management of workplace injuries and disorders. Industrial hygiene, forensic, psychosocial issues will also be addressed.
