Go “Wild” With Salmon

Salmon is rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fat.  When selecting salmon, go for the “wild” Alaskan salmon rather than Atlantic-farmed salmon.  The farmed variety has been found to have a much higher level of PCB contamination.  PCBs are thought to cause health problems including cancer.  Crowded salmon farms also can breed disease and pollute coastal waters.  Starting in October, a new law will require salmon to be labeled where it comes from and whether it is wild or farmed.
