Fat Soluble vs. Water Soluble Vitamins

Fat-Soluble vitamins need fat in order to be absorbed in your body and are stored in the liver and in fat cells. The fat-soluble vitamins are A, D, E, and K. If you consume too much of a fat-soluble vitamin, you can have a toxic reaction. However, beta carotene, the plant form of vitamin A, is not toxic; you will simply turn yellow from the orange pigment.

Water-Soluble vitamins are not stored in the body; they are excreted in urine if there is excess in the body. Because they are not stored, they need to be replaced every day.
