Ways to Avoid Distractions While Driving

Distracted driving contributes to one out of every four motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. That is over 1.5 million collisions a year.

Distractions while driving are particularly common among young adults drivers.

To Avoid Distractions While Driving:

  • Avoid using your cell phone.
  • Do not adjust your radio, tape, or CD player.
  • Never read while driving. Pull off the road to read or consult a map.
  • Do not attempt to take off your coat or change clothes.
  • Apply your makeup and/or comb your hair before or after you drive.
  • Do not allow passengers to distract you.
  • Avoid eating or drinking while driving.
