Here are some tips for creating a more balanced and energizing environment for yourself at work:

  • Do not sit with your back to the door. It is a potential source of anxiety and distraction.
  • Wherever possible, have a solid wall behind your desk to ensure that you have support in your life.
  • Provide warm or full-spectrum lighting; this can be easily achieved in an office by turning off the fluorescent lights and using appropriate lamps instead.
  • Avoid desktop clutter, or contain it in one area of your workspace.
  • Create an open space in the environment and soften sharp corners.
