No other sport has such a large variety of equipment as golf. These are
some things a health-conscious golfer should remember.
- Sunglasses – protect your retinas from long-term
exposure to UVA and UVB rays, dirt, and pollen.
- Wide-Brimmed Hat – this helps protect your
face, ears, neck, and top of your head from the sun.
- Sweat-Proof Sunscreen – choose one that contains
both UVA and UVB protection and with a minimum of SPF 15. Apply sunscreen
at least 30 minutes prior to your tee time and again mid-round. Make
sure your ears, nose, neck, and arms are covered; these areas are most
susceptible to burns. Also, remember to protect your lips; using a
special lip balm with SPF will prevent them from blistering and peeling.
- Loose Fitting Clothing – to keep the body
cool wear lightweight, light colored, loose fitting clothing. Try to
avoid mesh cotton shirts that may expose shoulders to UV rays.
