![]() Get Fit On-Campus
Group Fitness Classes Each term, a variety of classes are offered for students, staff, and faculty of NWHSU. Some classes may be open to community members. Click here for the latest schedule.
Northwestern’s Fitness Center is open to any student, employee, or alumni who have obtained a key from the main front office (alumni may purchase a key for $5). Locker rooms are also available. The fitness center contains a variety of cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes, stair climbers, and elliptical machines) as well as a group exercise room containing aerobic free weights, medicine balls, yoga mats, steps, etc. A boxing dummy is also available. The fitness center also has a variety of universal weights and free weights available for use.
Northwestern’s swimming pool is available for students, employees, and alumni who have obtained a key from the front office (alumni may purchase a key for $5). Everyone with key access may use the pool anytime there is not a scheduled event; a calendar is posted weekly on the outside door of the pool. The swimming pool is 35 feet by 75 feet and is 10 feet deep on one end and 3 feet deep in the shallow end. It remains at roughly 82 degrees to allow for a comfortable environment for Northwestern’s Master Aquatics Program. The pool does not have lifeguard supervision, and all swimming is done at the swimmer’s own risk. The Master Aquatics Program offers a variety of swimming classes. Northwestern’s gymnasium has a basketball court (62 feet by 90 feet) with six hoops, glass backboards, and full-court and half-court configurations. Students, employees, and alumni are welcome to use these facilities when they are not currently scheduled for class or other programming. A schedule is posted on the gymnasium door each week.
