The Benefits of Walking

Walking is the #1 participation sport worldwide! All you need are a good pair of walking shoes, comfortable clothing, and a pedometer (optional). Walking burns almost as many calories as jogging, but because it is low-impact, it doesn’t cause the same stress on your joints. In addition to the proven health benefits (lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol and heart attack risks, slowing bone loss), walking also helps you improve muscle tone, increase energy, and can be done just about anywhere. Make sure you properly warm-up before and cool-down after your walk – including stretching.
