Are Crocs Just Comfy or Healthy Too?

The fans of Crocs swear by its comfort, and some say they bring health benefits.

The Croc shoe was intended as footwear for boating, due to its non-slip tread and waterproof laminate. It was first produced in Canada in clog-form, but they added a strap for utility. Crocs are certified by the U.S. Ergonomics Council and the American Podiatric Medical Association. The company created an Rx line with healthy feet in mind: Croc Relief, Croc Cloud, and Croc Silver Cloud. They were designed to eliminate plantar pain and achy feet and to help people with injured feet, bunions, and diabetes. There’s a lot of inner support, heel cups, massaging heel nubs, and arch support.

Other benefits of the Crocs are that they are very light, and they have lots of room in the toe. The Rx Crocs are lined with antibacterial material that prevents fungal and bacterial infections. For people who have diabetes, the Crocs have spare room and antibacterial properties that help combat the reduced circulation and risk for open sores and infection.

The former president of the American Podiatric Medical Association reports that when wearing Crocs, he has the sense that he’s standing on water with no leg, back, or arch pain. Also, the Crocs offer more protection for feet than flip-flops, and they are very stable. They have been found to be beneficial in promoting good foot and ankle care. Even though not all doctors are recommending that they patients pick up a pair of Crocs, they are a good shoe to go to the beach, kick around the house, go to the market, but don’t walk around an amusement park all day with them.
