The authors are psychologists and leaders in behavior change research. They studied more than 1000 people who were able to positively and permanently alter their lives without psychotherapy. They found that change is not dependent on luck or willpower but is a process that can be managed once you understand how it works. Once you know what stage you are in, you learn a revolutionary six-stage program for overcoming bad habits and moving your life positively forward. Whether your goal is to lose weight, quit smoking, or stop other bad habits, this powerful book will help you implement permanent positive life changes. This book is available at Northwestern's Bookstore.

Shares findings from more than 200 weight-loss "masters" – women and men who have lost, on average, 60-some pounds and who have been maintaining their losses for an average of about 11 years. These findings are interwoven with the latest scientific information on weight loss and maintenance. It includes countless inspiring stories and anecdotes from the "masters", strategies for boosting self-esteem, ways to enrich life and solve problems more effectively, and tasty tested recipes from the "masters." The book also includes guidelines for individualizing weight-loss plans, setting a "comfortable" body weight, positive self-talk, sticking with exercise, and two different weight-loss plans. The accompanying Thin for Life Day Book is a combination of a weight loss journal and support group. Both are available at major book stores or through amazon.com by clicking here.
