36% of U.S. adults 18 years old and over use some form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). CAM refers to non-conventional medicines, which consist of a diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products. When prayer was included in the list of complementary and alternative medicines, the number of U.S. adults rose 62%.
