A lot of people complain of the occasional stiff neck, aching shoulders, and headaches. Self massaging one’s shoulders is the perfect place to start to relieve this type of pain and tension, making you feel completely relaxed. Follow these steps in order to give yourself an amazing shoulder massage:
- Stroke your right shoulder with your left hand and allow it to mold to the curves of your body. Start at the base of the skull and let your hand stroke the side of your neck and over your shoulder and all the way down your arm to your elbow. Repeat this motion three times and then do the other side.
- Make circular pressures with your fingertips on both sides of the spine and work up the neck to the base of the skull. Knead each shoulder and tighten and release the skin on your shoulders and at the top of your arms.
- Make a loose fist with your left hand and gently pound your right shoulder, keeping your wrist flexible. Do the same to your left shoulder. This movement improves your circulation and can give you energy if you are suffering from exhaustion.
- Finish the massage by using both hands to softly stroke the face down to the shoulders. Start with your hands on the side of your face and let them move gently under your chin. Slide your hands past each other at the front area of the neck, making sure that each hand is on the opposite shoulder and repeat as often as you want.
