What does wellness mean to you?
Wellness means having a balanced life of fun, friends, exercise, and relaxation.
What do you do to stay well?
I run a couple of marathons a year. Those force me to get out and exercise because there’s a goal in mind. I also eat healthy, do fun activities, and get enough rest when I can.
How do you work wellness into your day?
When I work, I take frequent walks. Instead of calling someone upstairs, I often go up and talk to them. I pack a healthy lunch and try not to snack too much during the day.
What are your biggest struggles for maintaining wellness?
Having young children makes it a struggle. It’s hard to run sometimes without feeling guilty that I should be home. Staying on top of things can be hard, because it’s easy to slip into laziness.
How do you find time to workout?
My wife and I have had to work out a plan so we each have free time for ourselves.
Why is being well important to you?
I feel better when I work out and eat right. I don’t get sick as often, and I am more productive. Also, my family has a history of high blood pressure, so it’s important for me to ward that off.
Do you have any recommended resources for wellness?
I read “Running Times” magazine to motivate me. I also think it’s valuable to know about different foods, including ethnic foods. My two children are Korean, so I’ve been learning more about Korean foods.
