Biggest Successes This Month: One of my biggest successes this month was to realize that it's okay to take a step backwards without mentally beating myself up for it. It's all about choice and recognizing what I truly want versus what I want now. It's taken a while to realize this, and I still struggle with recognizing it in the present moment with several things I face throughout the day. Rosie assures me this will get easier with time, but for now I must consciously stop to think about what it is that I truly want.
It was a real challenge for me to incorporate more exercise. I am now exercising at least twice a week, which is a real accomplishment for me as I wasn't doing any exercise outside my daily routines prior to this program. I know two times a week is not enough in order for me to accomplish my ultimate goal of healthy living, but it's a good start. My goal is to incorporate various methods of exercise at least four times a week, so I don't get bored with it.
My mid-program assessments were positive and uplifting for me. I lost a little less than 7 pounds and have overall improved my health according to the assessments. I could tell something was happening by the way I was feeling and by the way some of my clothes fit - but I knew my weight wasn't coming off as fast as I wanted. I intentionally did not get on the scale these past three months, as I did not want to discourage myself with the slow process and it is slow! When Dr. Bartlett told me my results I was very surprised and happy with the results. Click here to see "Jesse's" mid-program results.
Much of what I have learned, thus far, I have been able to apply to other areas of my life both professionally and personally. I feel I'm a bit more organized as I think in the present moment. I am noticing that I am more in control of how my day goes.
My goal for next month is to again increase my exercise. I know I my weight loss will be easier and quicker as I increase my activity level and maintain healthy eating habits. I have a long way to get to my ultimate goal of a healthy lifestyle – including weight loss and regular physical activity, but if I take it in small steps I will accomplish it. My goal for the last half of the program is to really ingrain all that I have learned so that, when the program is over, I have a good solid base to continue to build upon.
