Biggest Successes This Month: I think the biggest success I have had is incorporating exercise and movement into my life on a more consistent basis. It doesn't feel like I'm trying to "fit it in" as much; it feels more like it is part of my life. I don't dread it as much and, with the nice weather, it has been more fun to get out and walk or bike. I look forward to finding ways to move, whether it is actual exercise or movement of playing with kids or yard work.
With the end of the term having been in this past month, it has been a challenge to just remember all the things I need to do. I wrote appointments and events down but still forgot about them. I know I was meeting my exercise goals, but if I had to say exactly what I did, it would've been hard to recall. I guess the extra responsibility involved in the end of the term threw me off my normal routine. The challenge is pausing to remember what I want or need in the moment, given my responsibilities, and making good choices in the face of extra stress.
My coaching sessions backed off to every other week. I found that not checking in weekly with Rosie seemed to not necessarily affect what I did, but what I remembered about achieving my goals. I still paused and made better choices – including exercising and eating better (except on Easter). It showed me the importance of having someone to check in with in the beginning of the program and also reminded me that any long-term changes will have to continue on with me.
I want to work hard on losing some weight before the end of the final month. I guess there is a part of me that wants the numbers to show my progress. I will continue to incorporate exercise and movement into my life, and work on better food choices now that the Easter holiday is over. I think the spring is an excellent time to renew and begin/continue this new chapter I have started through this program. Follow "Pat's" Successes and Challenges:
