How Much Fat Should You Eat?

Many experts feel that consuming 25% of your daily calories from fat is healthier for the heart, but you should for sure consume less than 30
%. However, for people with diabetes and other conditions related to carrying excess fat in the abdominal region, a diet with 35% of calories coming from fat might be more beneficial (provided the fat is coming from unsaturated sources).

Consuming too little fat can also have health consequences. Not consuming enough fats can result in deficiencies of the fat-soluble vitamins and can also contribute to dry, brittle nails, hair and skin.

Saturated Fat – although many clinicians still use the old recommendations of now more than 10 percent of your daily calories coming from fat, most nutrition experts are now suggesting that no more than 7 percent of your daily calories should be from saturated fat.
