How to Properly Use a Baby Sling

A baby sling, which offers versatility and comfort for parents and babies, can be very convenient and safe for carrying young infants. When using a baby sling, keep in mind these tips from the American Chiropractic Association:

  • Regularly check on your baby inside the sling, to make sure that he/she is not too hot.
  • Make certain that your baby is able to breathe easily, without obstruction from the sling.
  • Never run or jog while carrying a baby in a baby sling. A baby's body is not adjusted to the cyclic pattern that is a part of running and jogging. This motion can do damage to the baby's neck, spine and/or brain.

Chiropractic Care Can Help

The activities we engage in during the summer can cause soreness or pain. If you feel discomfort after performing any of these activities, call your doctor of chiropractic. He/she is licensed and trained to help patients of all ages, and is able to offer advice regarding you and your children’s health.
