Maintain Proper Back Posture When Lifting Your Child

It’s important to not forget your own well-being while caring for your child. When lifting your child, remember these tips from the American Chiropractic Association:

  • Do not bend from the waist.
  • Lift from a squatting stance, first pulling the child near your body and then lifting both of you using your legs.
  • When placing the child into his/her carrier, lift him/her as close to the carrier as possible so you’re able to avoid most reaching, stretching, and twisting, which place stress on your back.

Chiropractic Care Can Help

The activities we engage in during the summer can cause soreness or pain. If you feel discomfort after performing any of these activities, call your doctor of chiropractic. He/she is licensed and trained to help patients of all ages, and is able to offer advice regarding you and your children’s health.
