Email Accounts
Email is an established means of communicating within the
University. Each student is issued a GroupWise Web Access
University email account. GroupWise accounts are accessible
from any computer connected to the Internet. After establishing
a connection and opening a web browser, students should go
to http://mail.nwhealth.edu.
A brief how-to booklet is also available to students; copies
are available in the hanging folder outside the room 25 office.
Account usernames and passwords are given out to students
during orientation. Students should contact the Information
Technology department if they misplace their account information.
Home Internet Access
An Internet Service Provider (ISP) account is available for
each student living within the Twin Cities Metropolitan area.
To sign up for home Internet access, fill out an ISP request
form located in a hanging file outside the room 25 office.
After a student has filled out this form, he or she should
return to room 25 after 2 business days and pick up account
information from Help Desk Specialist Thai Xiong. The Information
Technology department can only test to make sure that a student's
account works from a dial-up connection at the University.
Computer Lab Access
Computers are available to students in room 25 as well in
the library. Some computers are fitted with ergonomic keyboards.
Lab and library hours
Computer Lab Assistance
Student computer assistants staff the room 25 lab during
the evening hours and some lunch periods. If a student needs
help and a student computer assistant is not available, contact
an Information Technology staff member in room 24 or room
25. If an Information Technology staff member is not available,
a troubleshooting ticket may be filled out, for example, to
report a faulty disk drive.
Student Computer Classes
Computer tutoring is available from student computer assistants.
Tutoring is available on the following topics:
- Moodle
- Intro to computers
- Using Microsoft Word
- Creating a PowerPoint presentation
To request tutoring, send e-mail to bjcarl@nwhealth.edu.
