Chiropractor From Northwestern Health Sciences University is the Sports Medicine Team Captain For Twin Cities Breast Cancer 3-Day
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Scott Mooring, DC, a 2002 graduate of Northwestern Health Sciences University, is the official partner and sports medicine team captain for the 2009 Twin Cities Breast Cancer 3-Day event. The University hosted the All-Crew Extravaganza, a meeting for the volunteer crew of the event, on July 18.
Dr. Mooring will have a team consisting of chiropractors, athletic trainers, and physical therapists who will provide problem-focused evaluation and management for injuries sustained on the walk. Together with the Minnesota Chiropractic Association, volunteer crew captains will be recruiting Minnesota-licensed chiropractors, as well as student interns from Northwestern to provide treatment to the walkers and crew at the event.
The 2009 Twin Cities Breast Cancer 3-Day event will be Aug. 20 - 23, and is one of 15 events across the country. Thousands of walkers participate in this 60-mile stroll each year, which begins at Southdale Shopping Center in Edina, Minn., and ends at the Minnesota State Capitol grounds for a closing ceremony. Walk participants camp in tents each night.
“In addition to raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research, this event is a powerful way to create positive awareness about the chiropractic profession, and to enhance our public image,” says Dr. Mooring. “All those participating will change the lives of the people we help make it that last mile.”
Northwestern Health Sciences University offers a wide array of choices in natural health care education including chiropractic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and human biology. The University has nearly 900 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minnesota. |
