Northwestern Health Sciences University’s Capital Campaign Planned Giving Nears $7 Million Mark
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The planned giving portion of Northwestern Health Sciences University’s capital campaign is ahead of schedule with close to $7 million raised of the $15 million goal. The funds raised will be used to establish a permanent endowment to fund Northwestern’s long-term needs, and new projects and programs. Todd Crabtree, DC, JD, the University’s planned giving officer, is leading Northwestern’s planned giving efforts as part of the “Imagine Our Future” capital campaign. He explains that the term “planned gifts” refers to ways one gives to the University through his/her estate, whereas a cash gift is money received immediately by the University. Alumni and friends of Northwestern can have an impact on the University’s future by including the school in their estate.
The capital campaign goes through 2012. The total goal is $23.5 million, with $4.5 million of the $8.5 million cash goal already raised. The cash gifts are going toward funding a 48,000-square-foot addition to the south side of campus, the Wolfe-Harris Center for Excellence. Northwestern will also extensively renovate the current building with funds from the Capital Campaign. The result will be nearly 300,000 square feet of state-of-the-art educational facilities.
Dr. Crabtree says that people are pleased with the campaign. “There is excitement that we’ve gotten the planned giving portion off the ground,” he says, “We’ve made a successful attempt thus far and are very pleased to have it established.”
Northwestern Health Sciences University offers a wide array of choices in natural health care education including chiropractic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and human biology. The University has nearly 900 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minnesota. |
