| Standard Process Healing Garden at Northwestern Health Sciences University Earns Top Design Award
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – MOM’s Landscaping and Design has received a Grand Honor Award from the Minnesota Nursery and Landscaping Association (MNLA) for their work on the Standard Process Healing Garden, completed at Northwestern Health Sciences University in October 2008.
The MNLA gives out two types of awards based on the difficulty of the project: Merit Awards, and Honor Awards. The Healing Garden was given a Grand Honor Award, the highest award, in the grand installation category. “We are very thrilled to receive recognition for our projects,” says Jim Sweeney, founder and senior designer of MOM’s. The company also received two Merit Awards for residential projects.
Becca Bastyr, designer at MOM’s, designed the Healing Garden. “It’s a Grand Honor Award which is the highest award given by MNLA, and the highest award we’ve received,” she says. Becca added that in designing the Healing Garden, there were standards set by the University that MOM’s needed to meet, specifically naming opportunities, gathering spaces, study areas, and symbolism in the four pillars. “We wanted to work in the idea behind a healing garden, a quiet space for relaxation,” she said.
Northwestern Health Sciences University offers a wide array of choices in natural health care education including chiropractic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and human biology. The University has nearly 900 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minnesota.
