Healthy-U Web Site Offers Users Practical Information About Health and Wellness
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — People interested in living a healthy lifestyle can now access a comprehensive resource on health and wellness. The largest Web site dedicated to natural health care on the Internet, Healthy-U offers users more than 400 pages and 1,200 links to help them improve their wellbeing.
The site, which is an initiative of Northwestern Health Sciences University’s award-winning Healthy-U health and wellness program, is designed to be a resource for anything related to health and wellness. Rosie Ward, MPH, CHES, coordinator of Northwestern’s Healthy-U program, says her vision was to explain topics within the often overwhelming arena of health and wellness in such a way that everyone would benefit.
“People who do not have a great deal of knowledge of how to effectively improve their health will find an abundance of tools to assist them,” says Ward. “Meanwhile, people with more expertise who are looking for new information to challenge them will also find content on the site useful.”
The site contains seven main sections, including:
- Get Moving — includes guidelines for achieving fitness, frequently asked questions, tools and calculators, and in-depth information about dozens of exercise modalities;
- Eat Well — includes information about the government’s new food pyramid, recipes, tools and calculators, and nutritional information;
- Keep Lean — includes information about dieting and weight management, tools and calculators, and resources for people interested in losing weight;
- Find Balance — includes tips and resources for living a balanced life;
- Chill Out — includes information and resources for reducing stress;
- Stay Healthy — includes information on a variety of common ailments, plus information about natural ways to combat them; and
- Live Naturally — offers tips and information about organic foods, natural health care options, and other natural approaches to life.
“The site is a valuable tool for anyone interested in improving their health,” says Ward. “Already the site includes a lot of valuable information, but content will continue to be added throughout the year.”
