Students from Northwestern Health Sciences University Spruce Up Pillsbury House Clinic
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Northwestern Health Sciences University students spent a morning in January at the Pillsbury House Integrated Health Clinic, giving the walls a fresh coat of paint.
The Pillsbury House clinic, a University partnership, offers a student-run integrated health clinic combining medical, psychological, and natural health care modalities. Student practitioners from each field work together to provide treatments to those who don’t have access to health care.
The event was part of an overall renovation of the clinic. According to Noah Frohlich, a student from Northwestern’s Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and clinic volunteer, “The clinic had been in the basement since it opened, with everyone jammed into their own separate area. The top floor has since been renovated, allowing us to run a more functional clinic.”
A total of 15 students participated in the painting, including 13 Northwestern students and two University of Minnesota students. Deborah Miller, LPN, associate vice president of clinical services, was very impressed with the students. “The students began the project in the morning, and were finished painting by noon,” she says.
Northwestern Health Sciences University offers a wide array of choices in natural health care education including chiropractic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and human biology. The University has nearly 900 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minnesota.
