Biography
John Pirog, MSOM, LAc, is a licensed acupuncturist at the Bloomington Natural Care Center. He also serves as chair of the Department of Acupuncture in the University’s Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MCAOM). In addition to his practice, he teaches full time in MCAOM’s acupuncture program. Pirog has practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine since his graduation from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in 1983. In addition, he has undergone clinical training in China at the Chengdu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and in Lincoln Hospital Detox Clinic, New York. Over the years, he helped to found several free clinics in Chicago offering acupuncture and Oriental medicine for substance addicts and people living with AIDS. Pirog is the author of several textbooks on acupuncture and served as Academic Dean and Clinic Director at Midwest College before coming to the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2000.
