More than 700 participate in Spring Egg Festival and Hunt at Northwestern Health Sciences University
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. —A snowstorm didn’t stop more than 700 people from attending the Spring Egg Festival and Hunt on March 22 at Northwestern Health Sciences University.
The Spring Egg Festival featured activities for families, the Teddy Bear Band, a magician, face painters and a balloon sculptor as well as the 18th annual Egg Hunt.
Children dressed in spring outfits hunted for eggs in the snow-covered parking lot. The egg hunt was sponsored by the Bloomington Optimists.
Nancy Lowe of Bloomington brought her three children to the festival and watched as they plucked colored eggs out of the snow.
“It was even more fun in the snow,” she said. “Probably the only time we’ll get to do this.”
Nancy’s youngest daughter, Emelia, 3, successfully filled her basket this year.
“Emelia’s goal this year was to get one,” Nancy said. “Last year it was over before she realized what was going on. Everyone is happy.”
Sarah Erickson, Northwestern’s community relations intern, said nothing was canceled or changed because of the weather, and the egg hunt was once again popular.
“I think it went really well,” she said. “Despite the snow we had a really good turnout.”
Before the egg hunt, children could get their faces painted, decorate plastic eggs, and have their pictures taken with Vinnie the Vertebrate and the Easter Bunny.
Margaret Hall of Bloomington brought her two-year-old Natalie on her first-ever egg hunt.
“It’s a fun event,” Hall said. “The kids enjoy it a lot. It’s a nice way to meet the community.”
