Acupuncture Graduate from Northwestern Health Sciences University Takes Key Position at National Organization
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – A graduate of the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MCAOM) at Northwestern Health Sciences University was recently offered a key position at the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM). Jolene Habeck, who graduated in August 2009, has been named Operations Manager for the professional organization.
Habeck has served as president of the AAAOM student organization since October 2008, and has been a member of the AAAOM Board of Directors since October 2006. “With AAAOM,” said Habeck. “I can have a profound effect on more patients at the same time, by increasing the visibility of the acupuncture profession, and increasing the profile of acupuncture within health care.”
Habeck will be responsible for managing a staff of five; communicating with the public on behalf of the organization; managing national conferences; working to support the AAAOM’s political efforts; editing and supporting the AAAOM national publications, “The American Acupuncturist” and “Qi Unity Report”; and creating general communications materials.
“This is a great time for acupuncturists,” said Habeck. “I’m excited to be a part of an organization with motivated, energetic people who want to move our profession forward.”
Northwestern Health Sciences University offers a wide array of choices in natural health care education including chiropractic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and human biology. The University has nearly 900 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minnesota.
