Northwestern Health Sciences University Welcomes 189 New Students
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Northwestern Health Sciences University welcomed 189 new students to the University on Sept. 2, 2008. Of the new students, 131 are in the College of Chiropractic, 34 in the Massage Therapy program, and 24 are in the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Currently, total enrollment at Northwestern is 878. The College of Chiropractic has 677 students; the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine has 104 students; the Massage Therapy program has 70 students, and undergraduate studies has 27 students.
Students in the chiropractic program will spend three-and-a-half years at the University, accumulating 4,200 contact hours in 10 trimesters. Half of the 10 trimesters include training in a clinical setting with patients.
Students in the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine attend Northwestern for three years, including a minimum of 150 hours of clinical observation, and between 630 and 720 hours of supervised clinical practice.
The massage therapy program consists of 780 hours over the course of one year. Of that time, 105 hours are hands-on experience. The School of Massage Therapy takes pride in focusing on anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and nutrition.
Northwestern Health Sciences University offers a wide array of choices in natural health care education including chiropractic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and human biology. The University has nearly 900 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minnesota. |
