Northwestern Health Sciences University Employees Serve up a Big Welcome at Washburn Elementary School Picnic
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Northwestern Health Sciences University employees served burgers, hotdogs and assorted side dishes to nearly 1,000 teachers, students and parents of Washburn Elementary School on Aug. 28, 2008. Each year the University helps out with the back-to-school event, which gives students and parents a chance to check out their new classrooms and meet teachers and is sponsored by Washburn’s Parent-Teacher Association.
Washburn is located on the same city block as Northwestern and the two institutions have established close ties over the last decade. “Northwestern and Washburn really do have a great partnership,” said Jim McDonald, vice president of administrative services at Northwestern. “Our partnership also increases awareness of Northwestern. This event is just one example of how each institution supports the other.”
Northwestern Health Sciences University offers a wide array of choices in natural health care education including chiropractic, Oriental medicine, acupuncture, therapeutic massage and human biology. The University has nearly 900 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minnesota.
