| Now is your opportunity
to quit smoking once and for all! The
Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
Edith Davis Teaching Clinic will be offering
smoking cessation program three times in the next
several months. The program combines acupuncture,
dietary suggestions and information on alternative
ways in which you can relieve stress without the
nicotine.
Acupuncture can be helpful in decreasing the
withdrawal symptoms of nicotine. Such symptoms
can include: insomnia, irritability, nervousness,
headache, digestive upset, dizziness and an inability
to concentrate. The program consists of three
acupuncture appointments scheduled on Fridays,
Saturdays and Tuesdays. Scheduling the treatments
close together allows for a cumulative effect
during the actual withdrawal period.
Two crucial factors in your quest to stop smoking
are to making the commitment to quit and setting
the date. So, make your appointments today. Space
is limited!
Acupuncture is considered a helpful tool in decreasing
the urge to smoke and supporting the organ systems
of the lung, liver, kidneys and heart, thus assisting
in the detoxification or withdrawal process. This
smoking cessation program is promoted by the National
Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA)
and is a standard of practice in the acupuncture
detoxification community. Specific Auricular acupuncture
points are used to assist in calming and decreasing
the anxiety associated with the use and withdrawal
symptoms of nicotine. Each session includes an
acupuncture treatment in conjunction with a relaxation
activity and educational information to aid you
in this process.
