Giving Campaign Reminds Employees ‘Every GIVE Counts’

2012 Campaign Goal is to raise $40,000 in 40 hours with 40% participation.
Northwestern’s ‘Every Give Counts’ Employee Giving Campaign kicks off next week. The campaign goal is 40 percent participation, raising $40,000 in 40 hours. The campaign runs November 12-16. “Last year’s campaign established a new tradition of coming together to strengthen the Northwestern community by investing in our wonderful mission. Building on a shared sense of purpose and the generous spirit that defines Northwestern, we expect this year’s campaign to bring out the best in our faculty and staff,” says Vanessa Feils, Development Officer.
Last year, $30,000 was raised, which represented 24% participation from staff and faculty members. The money funded a remodel/build-out of the faculty lounge; building a labyrinth on campus; and completing the Capital Campaign.
The 2012 campaign projects include the Pillsbury House Integrated Health Clinic and Student Scholarships.
The Pillsbury House clinic offers free health care to patients in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood of Minneapolis. The clinic is focused on engaging patients in their own health and well-being. In a unique model of care, a team of providers partners with the patient to determine the best treatment plan.
There is a seemingly endless capacity to help more patients. The campaign gifts will fund: patient care technology, interpreter services, and basic equipment and supplies.
Scholarships help us provide students with financial assistance to help transform their dreams into reality. Campaign gifts will support $1,000 scholarships for current Northwestern students, and high school students in the Twin Cities area who have an interest in post-secondary health science education. Starting with the high school scholarship, every $1,000 raised will support a student. For example: $4,000 raised = (2) $1,000 High School Scholarship and (2) $1,000 Northwestern scholarship.

- Wednesday, November 14: Balloon Grams · Foyer · 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 14: Pillsbury Patient Story: Frances & Her Feet · Foyer · Noon – 12:30 p.m.
- Thursday, November 15: The Great Northwestern Give Together, Foyer-Courtyard · 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (family friendly)
- Friday, November 16: Campaign wrap-up, did you make a gift?
The primary aim of this campaign is to generate greater awareness of our nonprofit mission and to celebrate the impact of the work we do every day, notes Feils. "It’s a time for us pause and reflect on the privilege of making a meaningful difference on something that matters for everyone: better health. This campaign is a fun way to inject energy and positivity into the campus community while supporting the amazing work we are all a part of."
