From Beijing to Australia, Dr. Glori Hinck Presents Her Findings

Posted on June 22, 2009

Glori Hinck DC, an assistant professor at Northwestern Health Sciences University, is making an impression around the world. After presenting at a conference in Beijing last September, 2008, Dr. Hinck was invited to present two papers at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, in Melbourne, Aus. Dr. Hinck leaves for the “Land Down Under” on June 29, 2009.

The conference, entitled the Inaugural Summit on Chiropractic Education, is a bi-annual meeting in Australasia and East Asia intented to invoke interactions in chiropractic education.

“Many chiropractic schools don’t know what other schools are doing,” says Dr. Hinck. “Conferences such as this one give schools the opportunity to share what they’re doing to facilitate learning.” Chiropractic educational technology is one topic in particular that has not been studied, which is a topic familiar to Dr. Hinck.

“I’ll give two presentations,” says Dr. Hinck. “One presentation is on the topic of advances in educational technology, specifically the “View from North America;” and the second is the teaching of clinical skills and chiropractic technique, specifically “Facilitating Learning of the Clinical Interview.” Dr. Hinck will also act as the chair of a session on assessing students in the clinical setting, and will facilitate a group discussion.

The four main topics to be addressed at the Australasian chiropractic summit will be research and scholarship; assessing students in the clinical setting; clinical skills and technique; and aligning content taught with industry practice.

“I’ve also been asked to speak to the faculty at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia,” says Dr. Hinck. “And hopefully I’ll get in a little sight-seeing while I’m there too.”

If you’re interested in Dr. Hinck’s presentations – but can’t make it all the way to Australia – she will be presenting her research to Northwestern’s faculty on Tuesday, June 23 from noon – 1 p.m. in Room L5. The presentation is open to all who are interested.
