Posted on Jan. 28, 2010
The Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MCAOM) at Northwestern Health Sciences University will introduce the Edith Davis Seminar Series on Jan. 30, 2010. The series honors Edith Davis, LAc, founder of MCAOM, and offers the opportunity to earn six and a half continuing education credits. Alumni and licensed acupuncturists are invited to attend.
The upcoming seminar will feature two prominent speakers; Kejian Xiao, LAc, an adjunct professor at Touro College in New York, N.Y., and former attending physician in internal medicine in Hunan, China; and Colet Lahoz, RN, MS, LAc, founder of the East West Clinic in While Bear Lake, Minn., and a pioneer in the practice of holistic medicine in the United States. Lunch will be provided and a reception honoring Davis will be held following the seminar.
MCAOM, formerly known as the Minnesota Institute of Acupuncture and Herbal Studies was founded in 1990 by Davis, who was widely credited for pioneering acupuncture in Minnesota. Her legacy at Northwestern lives on in the MCAOM teaching clinic that bears her name – The Edith Davis Teaching Clinic.
“The MCAOM alumni board is excited to sponsor this seminar to honor Edith Davis,” said Debbie Peterson, executive director of alumni, development, and career services. “The board continues to provide great networking and learning opportunities.” Peterson expects more than 40 people to attend the event. Future seminars in the series will be held annually in the fall.
