Faculty and Staff Promote an Active Lifestyle by Dodging, Ducking and Diving

Northwestern Health Sciences University faculty and staff are invited to participate in a friendly game of dodge ball at 2 p.m. on Nov. 10, 2009. The game will be played in the University’s gymnasium. This is the third faculty and staff dodge ball game played on campus. “We had a great turnout the previous times we played,” said BJ Carl, help desk training and support specialist and event organizer. “Everyone said that they had a lot of fun.”
Carl said she is hoping that dodge ball will happen more frequently. “If we get a lot of players for this upcoming game we may be able to break into teams of about 10 people and play regularly against each other,” Carl said. “We may even be able to print team T-shirts.”
The dodge ball game was organized as part of the “Get Up and Go” campaign for Northwestern faculty and staff. The campaign promotes activities that improve health. “Besides dodge ball, we have held relaxation classes that were very well-received,” said Theresa Pendroy, human resources coordinator. “We are also working on putting together a mind and body advisory council.”
If you are a faculty or staff member interested in joining the game, please contact Carl at bjcarl@nwhealth.edu or ext. 188. Students are encouraged to come and watch.
