Northwestern Faculty and Staff Take a Break for Dodge Ball
Posted on Nov. 13, 2009
Low attendance did not stop faculty and staff at Northwestern Health Sciences University from throwing balls at each other during a friendly game of dodge ball on Nov. 10, 2009. About 11 people showed up to play in a game organized as part of the “Get Up and Go” campaign for a healthier lifestyle.
The bright side was that everyone got to play, even BJ Carl, help desk training and support specialist, who originally intended on being the official. The matches began with three players on each team and eventually grew to five per team once more people began to trickle in.
Stocking feet, black dress pants and wool tops didn’t stop the players from giving it their all. As soon as each match ended someone would yell “One more! One more match!” Eventually two matches led to six which led to about 10 matches in total. Everyone left the gym a little sweaty but with smiles on their faces.
“We are going to do another faculty and staff dodge ball game in three weeks,” said Carl. “We will try to do it a little earlier in the day so hopefully more people can come.”
