Seven Northwestern Faculty Recognized for Excellence in their Work

A group of seven Northwestern Health Sciences University faculty members received awards for excellence in their work at the seventh annual Faculty Honors Luncheon on June 25. The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Advisory group presented awards to the winners, who included:
Excellence in Teaching
- Lori Baldwin, MOm, LAc, clinical research faculty;
- Michele Maiers, DC, MPH, associate dean of research and transfer knowledge;
- Barry Taylor, DC, research clinic director;
- Sarah Weaver, NCTMB, assistant professor and faculty clinician; and
- Kristine Westrom, MD, MS, associate professor.
Excellence in University Patient Care
- Ursula Amiot, DC, faculty clinician
Excellence in Research, Scholarship or Creative Activities
- Craig Schulz, DC, MS, assistant professor
“What a surprise to receive the Excellence in Research, Scholarship, or Creative Activities award,” said Dr. Schulz. “It’s nice to be recognized.”
“I am honored and humbled to be recognized for Excellence in University Patient Care,” remarked Dr. Amiot.
“As the Foundations of Evidence Informed Practice is a new course, and part of a bigger context of culture change at the University, it was a wonderful to receive the Excellence in Teaching award,” said Dr. Maiers. “We are looking forward to collaborating more closely with the rest of the teaching faculty to foster an evidence-informed culture at Northwestern, and learn from our collaborative teaching efforts.”
“I am honored to receive the Excellence in Teaching award,” noted Dr. Taylor.“Teaching has deepened my respect for all of those who have taught me.”
Noni Threinen, DC, EdD, associate vice president of Institutional Effectiveness explained that the Faculty Honors Luncheon is a way to honor and appreciate the work of all University faculty members. Each award recipient received $500.
