Employee Spotlight: Meghan Hejna, public relations intern
What made you want to go into public relations?
I went to St. Cloud State University, Minn. Everyone on my floor freshman year was in elementary education. I spoke to someone in communications and I thought her classes sounded interesting, so I started out in mass communications and ended up in public relations.
What do you hope to learn from this internship?
I am hoping to get experience and I would like to gain a better focus on what I want to do.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself in the public relations field with enough experience to be comfortable in a job, but still learning and growing, and advancing in my career.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Running, walking, golfing, volleyball, and watching movies.
Do you have any pets?
I have a cat and my roommate just got a new cat. The old cat was jealous of the new one, so we had to slowly introduce them and now they are best friends.
If you could be any animal for one day, what would you be?
I would be a giraffe because they have long necks. I would be up high in the air and get to see things from a different angle.
What Disney character are you most like?
Ariel, because we both have red hair and like to sing – but I’m not good at swimming. That’s probably the only reason I’m not like her.
Do you have any summer plans?
I am going to WE Fest. I also have a few weddings to go to.
Student Spotlight: Jennie Sweeney, T6 MCAOM student
What did you do before attending Northwestern?
I was a massage therapist; I went to school at the Nevada School of Massage Therapy. I practiced for six years, and am nationally certified.
Do you have any siblings?
Yes; I have two older sisters.
What was the first car you ever owned?
I think it was a 1987 Cutlass Ciera.
What is your least favorite food?
Water chestnuts; they’re crunchy and have a horrible taste.
Which Minnesota sports team do you follow?
None; I’m not a sports fan.
If you had to wear the same color everyday, what color would you pick and why?
I would pick green because it’s a fun, bright color.
If you were trapped on a deserted island, what three things would you bring with you and why?
I would bring my boyfriend, my best friend, and my dog, Scooper. They are the three things I love the most in the world.
